Dear Parishioner,
FORTY YEARS AND COUNTING!
In 1982, the Mission of New Albany was established in our community to provide the opportunity for individuals to worship together and to practice the Catholic faith. Since then, our parish has grown in both population and footprint, from the original ‘Lions Club’ Church, to what is now our Ministry Center, and finally, our current home where we gather in worship, built in 2004.
Our parish is a family of loving, caring, and open persons seeking to respond to the call of Jesus in the Catholic Christian tradition. We are a praying community who, in every way possible, provide for the spiritual and corporal needs of God’s people. As members of the Resurrection community, we seek to serve brothers and sisters in Christ. Over the past forty years, we have remained true to this mission. Now, we are revisiting our master plan and considering opportunities to create the additional spaces needed to support our mission, continued growth and evangelization, and community.
In 2019, a 10-member Parish Strategic Planning Committee re-examined our 2004 Plan for the Century. In 2020, after polling parishioners, hosting town hall meetings, and analyzing results, it was obvious to the Committee that additional space was needed. A capital campaign was considered to raise funds that would allow the parish to enhance communal spaces for the first time in more than 20 years. Though the past three years have been difficult due to the pandemic, we believe the time to continue is now.
I hope you will be our thought partner in this journey and join us in continuing this important work, growing and evolving our community surrounded by Christ’s love.
Gratefully Yours in Christ,
Father Denis S. Kigozi
Church of the Resurrection is at a defining moment in our history. Since our parish was founded 40 years ago, New Albany has developed into a vibrant community in Central Ohio, with our parish growing concurrently. As determined by the parish survey in 2019, we have a need for additional physical space to provide more programming and ministries to our growing parish population and to evangelize in the broader community. Increasing the communal spaces available on campus will allow us to meet the needs of our parishioners as we welcome new people to our faith community.
Thanks to the hard work of the Committee, along with parishioners who provided feedback, we worked with Harper Architectural Studio to outline a potential two-phase development plan to enhance our campus.
The initial phase would take place over the next three years. This portion would address our parish’s immediate needs, including:
Our current projections for phase two are estimated to proceed over 12-15 years, though there is potential to accelerate this timeline. This phase would add more spaces for community, worship, prayer, and education, including:
These enhancements would benefit our parishioners as we use the new spaces to gather and grow in faith together. This exciting opportunity would also allow us to welcome new members from our surrounding communities who are seeking the Gospel. We want to ensure our parish can be a beacon of faith to our neighbors for generations to come.
Therefore, Church of the Resurrection is currently considering a $15-$30 million campaign to support these plans.
We have partnered with CCS Fundraising, a leading nonprofit fundraising consulting firm with deep roots in the Catholic church, to gather insights from our parish community. As an important member of our faith community, we are seeking your input on how this potential campaign may best serve the needs of our parish. We hope you join us in this process as we reflect on our Plan for the Century.
Thank you for sharing your time and thoughts during this planning process.
It it is critical that we gain the insight of our parishioners. To that end, we have developed a short survey to hear your opinions.
The survey should take no more than five minutes and your input is important as we consider the next steps in this planning process.
Please don't delay in providing your thoughts, since the survey will be accessable only through Sunday, February 13th
Thank you very much to those families who have already completed the survey. Please remember that only one survey should be completed per family.
Access to the formal survey has been closed. If you would like to provide input, Please click here to use our suggestion form under the category 'parish facilities'.
