The parish pastoral council (PPC) is a group of parishioners who assist the pastor in fulfilling the mission of the Church.
The council investigates, studies, and discusses matters of concern to the parish. It then forms practical responses to these matters. These practical responses are recommendations to the pastor. After the pastor responds to the recommendations, the council may assist the pastor with implementation. However, the responsibility of implementation lies with the pastor.
Since it is the purpose of the parish pastoral council to advise the pastor on matters of concern to the parish, the scope of matters can be quite large. Matters of faith, morals, and laws of the Universal Church, however, are not within the bounds of parish pastoral councils.
Parish pastoral council’s purposes of offering consultation to the pastor regarding pastoral matters and of being a voice of the parishioners regarding the life of the parish are fulfilled through these functions:
My family joined the parish 10 years ago when we moved from Cleveland. There is a feeling of peace and fellowship that I receive from the Church of the Resurrection. I believe a parish should be your second family and I hope to help others to feel that way. I have volunteered with the Youth Ministry and served on the Women’s Group Executive Committee for several years. Volunteering in these two areas have helped me to understand how PPC can make an impact. My term ends in 2024.
I joined Resurrection in the fall of 1993, after Mary Bailor invited me to join her in her row. My husband, Bill, joined at Easter 1998 through RCIA. I have been involved in many and varied ministries over the years, and my favorites include New Parishioner Welcome and Vacation Bible School. I have a passion for service, not only in our parish, but in STEM education and the unrepresented and underserved. I have a heart for leading others to find their own place in serving our parish community with their God-given, unique gifts. My term ends in 2024.
I have been a parishioner since 2005. My family and I love this church because of how friendly and welcoming the parishioners are and all of the ministries that are available. We have felt at home from the first time we walked through the doors. Through the years, I have served as an aid alongside my husband teaching CIC and 2nd grade CREED. I am also a eucharistic minister. In addition to serving my parish, I have participated in the RCIA program and Walking with a Purpose. I am excited to be a part of the PPC and to serve in any way that I can. My term ends in 2023.
I have been a parishioner since 1993. My husband Jim and I have enjoyed raising our daughters in such a welcoming Parish. We are both from small towns and away from family, and this Parish has helped us show our children a sense of community and belonging that we don't always feel living in a large community. My term ends in 2024.
My family which consists of my wife Amy and our twins sons Hunter and Taylor, moved to New Albany in 2013. Friends of ours invited us to attend mass at the parish one Sunday and we fell in love with the sense of community. Nine years ago we committed to this church and it's been a wonderful experience. I have been in the music ministry for the past 4 years and joined as a member of the Knights of Columbus. I feel that I would be a positive influence on the committee as I am passionate about my church, community and faith. My term ends in 2025.
I am a 34-year-old cradle Catholic, husband, and father to 3 kids. We live in Gahanna and have been parishioners at Resurrection for a little while. I currently serve on the finance team with the Greater Columbus Covenant Community (GCCC), which is a group of committed Catholic members on mission to share the joy of Jesus to others. I have been a member of small faith-sharing groups as a part of that organization for over 12 years. In my childhood, Fr. Denis was one of the priests who guided me through my sacraments at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Pickerington, and I have appreciated the way he has shepherded all the members under his pastoral care. I hope to use this opportunity as a way to further understand how to reach more people and cultivate meaningful, Christ-centered relationships. My term ends in 2025.
My wife Kathy and I, and our four boys, have been members of COTRNA since June 1991. Kathy works for the parish. I have participated in the PEA ministry for over 10 years. As a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, I look forward to supporting Fr. Denis as he leads our Parish closer to Christ. My term ends in 2025.
We joined the parish in the mid 1990s and love being part of this special community. Sandra has worked VBS for a number of years and was a Creed Coordinator for years as well. We have three children, Coby (24) and his wife Francesca(24), Albina(22), and Jack(20). My term ends in 2024.
I have been attending Church of the Resurrection since 1999 –back when our whole congregation squeezed into what is now the Ministry Center. My family and I registered a few short years later. I love this Parish because of the palpable feel of the Holy Spirit working within it. I appreciate the opportunity to serve the good work of the PPC as secretary to the group.
